Throughout our lives, we are constantly making new relationships with people – with family, friends, lovers, and acquaintances. This piece is meant to illustrate the feelings of either toxicity or growth that come from these relationships.
Better With You
Sometimes we find people who build us up and whose relationships we can benefit from.
Better Without You
Sometimes we find people who break us down and whose relationships we consider to be toxic to our lives.
This piece was created using TouchDesigner, with visuals edited from found footage in After Effects. Using an XBox Kinect as an infrared camera, when users are detected, the projections will change depending on which room the user has entered. When a user is detected in Better With You, the room bursts with light, flowers begin to bloom, and colorful visuals are mapped onto the walls. When a user is detected in Better Without You, the room essentially “breaks” – dark, glitchy visuals are mapped onto the walls, flowers turn pale, and broken monitors appear all over.
